Iain’s Story
What started out as a tiny bedroom record, grew into something much bigger.
Dialling narrative concept albums like Quadrophenia up to 11, Critical Frequency evolved into a unique experiential show.
Set amidst the backdrop of a turbulent UK (2010-2011), the show harnessed pop-culture, hijacked headlines, and blurred the lines between fiction and reality. Projecting a POV film behind the band to pull audiences into an immersive portrait of disaffected youth.
MAIN SINGLE
TOURING
Touring the show around the UK with my band was one hell of a wild ride. Highlights include: vibing to our single on BBC radio six as we raced a thunderstorm up the M60, swapping Dominoes slices with the Klaxons, hearing Will from the Inbetweeners say he “dug” our gig and every one of the million minutes I spent in sweaty cramped rehearsal rooms with my talented band of brothers - The Capture Effect.
Oh and we were lucky enough to play a few decent SUPPORT SLOTS along the way…

HIJACKING HEADLINES
2010-2011 was a turbulent time: Tory HQ was attacked by protestors, the News of the World closed—a victim of its own phone-hacking scandal—and London burned in scenes that shocked the world. These events became the narrative spine of Critical Frequency, with reactive protest songs for each drawing audiences into the visceral 'reality' of the story
Puts a lens to the dark side of the media. Documenting the phone hacking scandal, as public outrage takes down a division of the Murdoch empire
Brixton Academy
Draws you into the beating heart of the protest. Channelling placard slogans, before erupting into the chaos of this flashpoint of disaffection.
PRESS
Pulls you into the seductive vitriol of mob mentality as thousands riot, ransack and burn London following the tragic death of Marc Duggan.
tv work
Ben’s story
oh look, i used to work in tv.
I spent 7 years behind keyboards, cameras, and in darkened rooms, but there were a few highlights.
I got to know far too much about serial killers and stalkers making docs for Channel 4 and 5.
A music video I helped make for Miley Cyrus clocked up over 60M views.
Rankin sent me a bunch of signed books to say thanks for my work on Louis Vuitton.
I’ve had a pint with Joe Rogan after filming a kickboxing tournament - I had no idea who he was.
I referred to Michael Owen as ‘that short bloke in the suit’ - I also had no idea who he was either 🤷♂️.
Check out my reel below, it’s a bit old now but you get the gist.
GlutFood
I’ve always been an inventive cook.
During the pandemic I found that I was giving advice to my friends and family as to how to get the most out of their unloved ingredients and whatever they could scavenge from depleted shelves.
Someone said I should share this with the world, thus GlutFood was born.
From humble beginnings I have since catered parties, run supper-clubs, worked in pop-ups and developed recipe after recipe, but all of it starts around the kitchen table.
